Algeria will host the African Nations Badminton Championship (Seniors) from January 11 to 17, 2027, the Algerian Badminton Federation (ABF) announced on Wednesday, welcoming the awarding of this major continental competition.
According to the same source, the finest African national teams alongside the continent's top male and female players are expected in Algeria to compete for the prestigious African title across the various events scheduled on the competition program.
The Algerian Badminton Federation indicated on its social media platforms that this event will serve as a major sporting showcase, bringing together the African elite of the discipline in an atmosphere defined by sporting excellence, fair play, and the values of fraternity among African nations.
Hosting this championship confirms Algeria's commitment to strengthening its position among the host nations of major continental sporting events, while contributing to the development and influence of badminton across Africa.
During the last edition of the African Nations Badminton Championship, held in late February 2026 in Gaborone, Botswana, the Algerian national teams (men/women) secured first place in the general standings with a total of six medals: three gold and three bronze.
