The Minister of the Interior, Local Communities, and Transport, Saïd Sayoud, received on Monday in Algiers the Minister of Transport and Logistics of the Republic of Mozambique, Mr. Mateus Magala, who is on a working visit to Algeria as part of strengthening cooperation relations between the two countries.
During this meeting, both parties discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the transport sector, reviewing prospects for its development across various modes, particularly land, maritime, air, and rail transport, in addition to exchanging views on issues of mutual interest.
In this context, Mr. Sayoud praised the "dynamism" currently experienced by the transport sector in Algeria across its various branches, "thanks to the special attention paid by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to this strategic sector."
This attention is reflected in major projects to develop the railway network, led by the Western Mining Line connecting Gara Djebilet, Béchar, and Oran, and the Eastern Mining Line, alongside the Algiers-Tamanrasset line project, in addition to reinforcing Air Algérie's fleet with new aircraft, "reflecting the national will aimed at developing and modernizing the transport system."
On this occasion, Mr. Sayoud reviewed the expertise and potential that Algeria possesses in various transport-related fields, both in terms of infrastructure and the national skills managing the sector's various facilities. He also highlighted the Algerian experience in modern urban transport systems, emphasizing "Algeria's readiness to exchange expertise and share its experience with the Republic of Mozambique, particularly in human resources training and putting national capabilities at the service of joint cooperation projects, to contribute to the development of the transport and logistics sector and achieve a fruitful partnership to the benefit of both countries."
For his part, the Minister of Transport and Logistics of the Republic of Mozambique praised Algeria's achievements in the transport sector, confirming his country's interest in benefiting from the Algerian experience and its eagerness to "strengthen bilateral cooperation to serve the common interests of both nations."
The meeting culminated in the signing of an agreement between the Algerian and Mozambican governments regarding air transport services, which aims to "realize the shared will of both countries to strengthen their bilateral cooperation and develop their partnership in the field of air transport."
In conclusion, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continue working together and strengthening cooperation relations between the two countries, reflecting the shared will to elevate the bilateral partnership in the field of transport and logistics.
