Prime Minister Mr. Sifi Ghrieb chaired, this Tuesday, July 14, 2026, a government meeting dedicated to the following points:
First, the government listened to a presentation regarding a project to recover and utilize brine resulting from seawater desalination plants.
In this regard, and in compliance with the directives of the President of the Republic aimed at promoting the circular economy, this project aims to reduce the environmental impact of brine discharges, while recovering this resource through the production of salts intended for several industrial uses.
To this end, the work carried out with the concerned sectors and bodies allowed for the identification of a technological recovery sector, as well as the creation of a pilot plant at the "Corso" desalination plant.
Finally, within the framework of the continuous follow-up on major structural projects, the government listened to a presentation on the progress of major strategic mining projects, specifically: the development project of the Gara Djebilet iron mine in Tindouf, the integrated phosphate project in Tebessa, and the development project of the Tala Hamza-Oued Amizour zinc and lead mine in Bejaia.
On this occasion, the key steps achieved in the implementation of these projects were reviewed, particularly in terms of constructing industrial facilities and equipment, as well as the measures taken to ensure the supply of water and energy to these sites.
