The Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, insisted on Wednesday in Tindouf on the necessity of mobilizing all resources to complete the work related to the West Mining Railway Line, which stretches 950 km from Gara Djebilet, passing through Tindouf and Beni Abbes, to Bechar.
Accompanied by the Secretary of State to the Minister of Energy and Mines, in charge of Mines, Karima Bakir Tafer, the Minister insisted, during the inspection of the construction work for the railway station in the Gara Djebilet area as part of a working visit to the wilaya, on the imperative to accelerate the completion of this station and its annexes and to ensure their operational readiness before the end of the current year.
On the same site, the ministerial delegation also received a detailed presentation on the progress status of the works for the Bechar–Tindouf–Gara Djebilet mining railway line.
Mr. Djellaoui called for accelerating the pace of the remaining work to allow for the complete closure of this strategic project's construction site, particularly following the recent completion of all 45 major civil engineering structures.
The delegation then proceeded to the work site of the railway station in the city of Tindouf, which has reached its final stages of completion. The Minister commended the level of progress on this important infrastructure while stressing the necessity of mobilizing all means to finalize the secondary works within the best possible timeframes.
Furthermore, the Minister, accompanied by the Secretary of State, inspected the project for the iron ore treatment and loading unit, where they were given explanations on the functions of this unit. It will handle crushing and screening operations, with a production capacity of one million tonnes in 2026, expected to reach 8 million tonnes by 2030.
It should be noted that the Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, will continue his visit to the wilaya of Tindouf on Thursday, with the inspection of various sections of the West Mining Railway Line, including the railway station in the Hassi Khebbi area, located approximately 370 km north of the wilaya capital.
