The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, emphasized yesterday, Tuesday, in Algiers, the State's determination to continue the process of reforms and the implementation of development programs, stating that Algeria has achieved accomplishments in various fields that no person of good faith can deny.
In a speech to the Nation delivered before both chambers of Parliament at the Palace of Nations, the President of the Republic affirmed that "reforms are continuing to enshrine the rules of governance, by the people and for the people," as well as "the implementation of sustainable development programs."
On this occasion, he praised the dynamic that has allowed Parliament to "enshrine the prerogatives of the legislative power through the exercise of its right of initiative regarding bill proposals, particularly those relating to nationality and the criminalization of colonization."
In the same vein, he assured that he would respond, within the framework of the dialogue he had previously announced, to "all demands from political parties."
Regarding the consolidation of the foundations of the rule of law, the President of the Republic affirmed that "justice will crack down on corruption in all its forms, and will remain vigilant against all shortcomings, while protecting honest officials."
In the economic sector, he highlighted the main positive indicators achieved by the national economy, which is experiencing "an unprecedented investment dynamic," specifying that foreign investors are participating in 309 investment projects, a figure that constitutes "an eloquent response to those who claim that Algeria is isolated."
The reduction of the inflation rate is "another indicator to counter those who claim that our orientation is not the right one," he added, stressing that "our economy is doing well." "This is not the accomplishment of the President of the Republic alone, but that of all the executives and workers of the Nation," he maintained, adding that "anyone who does not recognize Algeria's achievements is an ingrate acting in bad faith."
He also mentioned Algeria's achievements in the railway sector, seeing it as "proof that the Algerian, when he decides to, accomplishes miracles," expressing his pride that "the national production policy is beginning to create a real dynamic, after a period of industrial neglect across all wilayas and at all levels due to unbridled imports."
In this context, he indicated that the share of industry in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has risen to "nearly 10%, after having been deliberately reduced to 3% in the past," specifying that "the coverage rate of the national market by locally produced medicines currently exceeds 80%."
Similarly, the President of the Republic praised the young owners of start-ups, who "believed in their capabilities and those of their country, which they have honored abroad," noting the registration of "13,000 start-ups in Algeria, some of which enjoy international renown."
The President of the Republic also addressed the mega-project of the Gara Djebilet mine, the "third largest iron mine in the world," which is today "a reality," asserting that Algeria has "accomplished what seemed impossible."
"All eyes are on our move towards phosphate production at Bled El Hadba," he continued, adding that "phosphate will be produced and transported safely, and we will multiply our production capacities by five."
Regarding the agricultural sector, the President of the Republic noted that "farmers have succeeded in creating 15,000 agricultural enterprises and are now contributing positively to the national economy," highlighting "the use of technology in this sector."
After recalling the "great successes" achieved in this field, the President of the Republic pointed to a "failure in the production of meats of all kinds," noting that this situation "raises major questions."
Consequently, he called on actors in the sector to demonstrate responsibility in service of the country, believing that "funds intended for meat imports should primarily return to the people of Algeria."
Discussing the health sector, the President of the Republic welcomed the positive indicators recorded, particularly "the increase in life expectancy in Algeria," thanks to the health authorities' ability to eradicate certain diseases, noting that "vaccination against diseases is a normal thing for Algerians, whereas it remains exceptional in many countries."
Responding to certain parties desperately trying to obscure the achievements made, the President of the Republic stated: "Our figures are exact and closely scrutinized; if they were not, they would be on the front page of the international press." "Cities have been created from nothing, yet they say nothing has changed," he marveled. "For some, the criterion for change in the country is the halt put to the money they were embezzling," he said.
Furthermore, the President of the Republic reaffirmed that "methods aiming to sow discord and despair, exaggeration, and invective are doomed to failure," recalling that "in 2019, the country was on the edge of the precipice and the political discourse of the time announced the inability to pay salaries."
"History will remember that we maintained support for citizens," said the President of the Republic, reviewing the main social gains achieved, notably the revaluation of salaries and his commitment to proceed with further increases, as well as the continuation of recruitment.
Moreover, he continued, "purchasing power is protected, and we fight every day against those who seek to break it by targeting the advantages granted by the State to citizens," insisting on "the necessity to ensure this by subsidizing the prices of food products, water, electricity, and housing, as well as free education."
Regarding the housing sector, the President of the Republic indicated that 1,700,000 housing units have been built since the beginning of his first term, revealing that he had "imposed on the former President, the late Abdelaziz Bouteflika, the cancellation of the granting of certain lands in the city of Sidi Abdellah, so that they would return to the people through housing projects."
Touching upon achievements in the field of water desalination, the President of the Republic instructed the Prime Minister to "proceed with the launch of the construction of two (2) water stations in Tindouf and Tamanrasset."
On the international level, the President of the Republic reaffirmed Algeria's constant position regarding the Palestinian cause.
Referring to neighboring countries, he assured that "harm will never come from Algeria."
Regarding the situation in Libya, he affirmed that the solution in this brotherly country "can only come from its children."
As for relations with Tunisia, the President of the Republic warned against "attempts to sow discord between the two countries by narrow minds," emphasizing that "Algeria's security is inseparable from that of Tunisia, and vice versa."
"We have never interfered in Tunisia's internal affairs, and our Army has never set foot on Tunisian soil," he maintained, stressing that "patriotism in Tunisia is very strong, and those who attempt to present it as easy prey are mistaken."
"Certain parties want to break the bonds of brotherhood between Algeria and Tunisia, thinking they can thus attack it more easily," he said, recalling that "President Kais Saied is not a proponent of normalization." He reaffirmed that "whoever attacks Tunisia attacks Algeria."
