The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, and the Ministry of the Interior, Local Assemblies and Transport, announced the launch of a new service allowing citizens born abroad and currently present on national territory to submit their requests for the registration and correction of civil status documents directly at the municipal level. This initiative is part of the implementation of instructions from the country's high authorities aimed at strengthening digitization and public service modernization efforts, simplifying administrative services for citizens residing in Algeria and abroad, and bringing the administration closer to the citizen, indicated a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday.

"Within the framework of the concrete implementation of instructions from the country's high authorities regarding the strengthening of digitization and public service modernization efforts, the simplification of administrative services intended for our fellow citizens residing inside and outside the country, and bringing the administration closer to the citizen, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of the Interior, Local Assemblies and Transport announce the launch of a new service allowing citizens born abroad and currently on national territory to submit their requests for the registration and correction of their civil status documents directly at the level of the municipalities," reads the statement.

"The result of joint cooperation between the Foreign Affairs and Interior sectors, particularly in the fields of data exchange and the interconnection of information systems, this new service will bring real added value to the quality of services provided to citizens concerned by requests for the issuance, registration, or correction of these documents, while saving them from traveling to the civil status service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to collect them," according to the same source.

"This new service will be available, in a first phase, at the level of the municipalities of the Wilaya of Algiers and in the municipalities serving as the seats of the chief towns of the other Wilayas of the country, before being generalized, in a later phase, to all remaining municipalities across the national territory," concludes the Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement.
