On Sunday, Algerian Radio, represented by Channel Two, organized a musical evening at the Lamine Bechichi Hall in Algiers. The event was headlined by the renowned Kabyle singer Rabah Asma, accompanied by an orchestra.
The concert was organized to mark the arrival of the new Amazigh New Year, Yennayer 2976, and served as a continuation of the cultural and artistic program outlined by Radio Channel Two under the slogan: "Our Heritage is a Mark in the Record of Humanity."
The event was attended by the Director General of Algerian Radio, Mr. Adel Salakdji, institution executives, and directors of various radio channels, alongside a large audience of Algerian families and fans of authentic Kabyle music.
The talented artist Rabah Asma dazzled on the stage of the Bechichi Hall, performing a collection of his songs in the Kabyle style, including "Arjou Arjou," "Achou Dhiyibouine," "Acughar dhi l'Hub," and "Tsargough," among others. He also performed covers of famous songs by great artists in his own unique style, such as "Algérie mon beau pays" and "Slaavits Ayavehri" This took place amidst great interaction from the families present, who engaged with the program by singing along, clapping, and offering ululations in a delightful festive atmosphere.
The evening also featured various other segments, including a video presentation on archaeological landmarks, aimed at promoting the tangible and intangible cultural heritage included in UNESCO lists.
Additionally, the event showcased excerpts of the "Achewiq" vocal style, inspired by Kabyle heritage, performed by the women's group "Urar n Lkhalat." This was accompanied by a traditional fashion show highlighting costumes from various provinces of the country, with models appearing in the finest traditional attire.
The ceremony concluded with the Director General of Algerian Radio, Mr. Adel Salakdji, honoring Kabyle music star Rabah Asma in appreciation of his contributions to the promotion of Algerian art and Kabyle music.
