Acting on instructions from the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Prime Minister Sifi Gherib visited the Mohamed Lamine Debaghine Hospital in Bab El Oued, Algiers, on Friday. He checked on the health conditions and the medical care provided to the victims of the tragic passenger bus rollover. The bus had veered off the road and plunged down a ravine on the Berrahmoun El Karma bypass, on the outskirts of the Boumerdès district.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including the Minister of Interior, Local Communities, and Transport, Mr. Saïd Saayoud; the Minister of Health, Mr. Mohamed Seddik Ait Messaoudan; the Minister and Wali of Algiers, Mr. Mohamed Abdennour Rabehi; and the Director General of National Security, Mr. Ali Badaoui, alongside various military and local authorities.
At the hospital’s emergency department, the Prime Minister spoke with several injured patients and the medical staff supervising their treatment. He assured them that all necessary resources and capabilities have been fully mobilized to ensure the victims receive optimal medical care.
This painful accident has resulted in 25 fatalities and left 44 others injured, according to a provisional toll released by the Civil Protection services. Emergency rescue teams were rapidly deployed, intervening at approximately 9:41 a.m. immediately following the crash.
