The inauguration of the Gara Djebilet-Tindouf-Béchar mining railway line by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has drawn significant attention from the international press. Global media outlets have emphasized the strategic and economic magnitude of the project, describing it as a "major turning point" in Algeria's strategy to diversify its economy.

Following its official launch, foreign media noted that this 950-km line is part of a broader vision aimed at diversifying the Algerian economy by facilitating the transport of iron ore to steel complexes.

Beyond its industrial scope, several international media outlets highlighted the territorial impact of this massive infrastructure project, noting its potential to improve mobility, create jobs, and stimulate local economic development.

In this regard, Discovery Alert, a specialized outlet for mining news, described Gara Djebilet in an analysis as one of "the most important unexploited iron deposits in the world." The report highlighted the technical and logistical feat of completing the "iron ore railway transport system in record time."

According to the article, this line will serve more than just iron ore transport; it will also open up isolated regions and improve passenger mobility, standing as a "symbol of a major effort of industrialization and economic diversification in Algeria."

In an op-ed titled "Gara Djebilet: Algeria’s Strategic Shift from Raw Material Exporter to Industrial Value Creator," the news site Eurasia Review explained how the development of the Gara Djebilet iron ore project marks a strategic attempt to redefine the Algerian economic model, moving away from simple extraction toward industrial value creation and economic diversification.

The event also garnered attention in Switzerland. Radio Lac and the Ecofin agency, which specializes in the African economy, covered this major strategic project under the headline: "Algeria's Mining Transformation: Gara Djebilet Shifts into High Gear."

Their coverage detailed the official commissioning of the railway section, emphasizing that "the exploitation of this deposit aims to transform the country into a major steel hub in Africa."

Meanwhile, television channels and news websites across the Arab world broadcast detailed reports on the inauguration. They noted that the project will enable the efficient transport of iron ore to the port of Oran and steel plants, thereby reinforcing the country's economic sovereignty.

These reports also highlighted the role the mine will play in developing the Tindouf region by creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs, describing the inauguration of "Africa's longest mining railway line" as a "historic moment."
