The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, chaired a meeting of the Council of Ministers today. The meeting was devoted to monitoring measures for supplying the national market with essential consumer products during the holy month of Ramadan, as well as the progress of complementary programs in the Wilayas of Khenchela, Tissemsilt, Djelfa, and Tindouf.
Following the presentation of the Council of Ministers' agenda, and a review of government activities over the past two weeks by the Prime Minister, the President of the Republic issued the following instructions, orders, and directives:
Regarding the Water Sector:
- The President of the Republic ordered the Minister of Water Resources and Water Security to launch the construction of two desalination plants in Tamanrasset and Tindouf next month for the benefit of the inhabitants of these two Wilayas, emphasizing that these two projects are strategic for the residents of the Great South.
- He also ordered the construction of a new plant in Tindouf for the treatment and purification of wastewater, specifically for promising agricultural projects.
- The President ordered the Minister of Water Resources and Water Security to redouble vigilance, control, and caution during operations to drain excess water from full dams.
The President of the Republic also insisted on the paramount importance of respecting national drinking water distribution plans throughout the year. He deemed the water outage that affected the residents of the Wilaya of Chlef—before its recent restoration—to be completely unacceptable, stating that full responsibility would be borne for the incident, and issuing a severe warning against any laxity that could lead to such occurrences.
Regarding General Preparations for the Holy Month of Ramadan:
The President of the Republic issued instructions ensuring that all conditions are met so that citizens can spend the holy month of Ramadan in comfort and serenity, given the sacred and revered nature of this month for our citizens, which is characterized by mutual aid and solidarity.
- He ordered redoubled efforts at the government level during the month of Ramadan to remain responsive and effective regarding all concerns.
- The President of the Republic welcomed the abundance recorded regarding various goods, particularly agricultural and animal products, stressing that this must have a positive impact on prices during the holy month.
Regarding the Progress of Complementary Programs for the Wilayas of Khenchela, Tissemsilt, Djelfa, and Tindouf:
- The President of the Republic praised the implementation of all complementary programs and the completion of projects within the set deadlines.
- The President instructed the government to draw up new complementary programs for the least developed Wilayas, particularly those that were recently created.
