National Seminar in Algiers on Capacity Building in the Field of Cybersecurity

The Ministry of Vocational Training and Professional Education organized a national seminar on cybersecurity capacity building on Tuesday in Algiers, in coordination with the Information Systems Security Agency.

In an address delivered during the meeting, held at the National Army Circle in Beni Messous, the Minister of Vocational Training and Professional Education, Nacima Arhab, stated that this seminar "falls within the framework of the National Strategy for Information Systems Security and the implementation of instructions from the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, regarding the need to meet the cybersecurity challenge." She noted this relies on "valuing human resources and experienced skills that are conscious of the importance of the missions entrusted to them."

After recalling the State's major interest in this subject as part of efforts to "make a qualitative leap in the management of public affairs," the Minister indicated that this seminar takes place "in a context marked by an unprecedented acceleration of technological transformations and the emergence of growing digital threats affecting the information systems of economic companies providing vital services."

In this regard, she highlighted the attention the vocational training and professional education sector pays to cybersecurity through "training technical skills capable of meeting challenges on the ground, responding to company requirements, and supporting the national economy's digital transformation."

Furthermore, Mrs. Arhab insisted on "the need to update training programs, strengthen the practical aspect, and integrate modern technological tools to adapt training to labor market needs."

For his part, the Director General of the Information Systems Security Agency, General Abdeslam Belghoul, stated that cyber threats "concern all State institutions and bodies across all sectors, particularly those possessing sensitive information systems and digital data directly related to citizens."

Regarding the theme of the meeting, which targets vocational training instructors in the cybersecurity field, General Belghoul indicated that it "falls within the framework of the National Strategy for Information Systems Security, specifically the component related to training, awareness, and communication." He noted that "the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, as well as Army General Saïd Chanegriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the People's National Army, attach paramount importance" to this strategy.

According to the organizers, this meeting "aims to adapt vocational training specialties to the needs of the national market, develop cybersecurity training programs, and strengthen the capabilities of trainers in this vital field."

The meeting took place in the presence of the President of the National Authority for the Protection of Personal Data (ANPDP), Samir Bourhil, and representatives from various national bodies and institutions.
