The President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, presided on Thursday at the Houari Boumediene Military Academy in Cherchell (Tipaza) over the annual graduation ceremony for the class of 2026, named in honor of the late President and Mujahid Liamine Zeroual.
On this occasion, the President of the Republic oversaw the commissioning of officers and the presentation of diplomas to the top-ranking graduates. He presented a diploma to the top graduate of the master's degree course, promoted the top graduate of basic training to the rank of lieutenant while presenting him with the Academy's sword, and awarded a diploma to the top graduate of basic joint military training from friendly and sister nations.
Following this, the President of the Republic gave his approval to name the 57th cohort of basic training after the late President and Mujahid Liamine Zeroual. He then watched military parades performed by various formations of the People's National Army (PNA), which demonstrated a high level of precision and professionalism.
The President of the Republic also viewed combat sports demonstrations, alongside a tactical demonstration executed by a joint detachment of Academy students.
Furthermore, the President watched aerial displays carried out by fighter jet formations, in addition to naval exercises conducted at sea by the Naval Forces, which simulated the search and interception of a suspect vessel as part of a maritime interdiction operation.
The graduation ceremony took place in the presence of senior state officials, members of the government, as well as senior officers and commanders of the People's National Army.
Earlier upon his arrival at the Academy, the President of the Republic was welcomed by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army, General of the Army Saïd Chanegriha.
The President of the Republic listened to the national anthem before reviewing formations from the various branches of the People's National Army presenting him with military honors.
At the entrance of the Academy, the President of the Republic stood before the memorial monument of the late President Houari Boumediene, after whom the Academy is named, where he placed a wreath of flowers and recited the Fatiha from the Holy Quran in tribute to his memory.
