The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, emphasized that the Johannesburg Summit will remain a turning point in the collective memory of the African continent, as it is the first G20 summit to be held under an African presidency and on African soil.
In his speech in Addis Ababa regarding the G20 report, Attaf praised the distinguished presidency of the brotherly Republic of South Africa of the G20. He highlighted that it was the first G20 summit to affirm Africa's standing, the first to listen to Africa's voice, and the first to reintegrate Africa's priorities and aspirations into the core of international economic development concerns.
Attaf expressed Algeria's appreciation for the role played by the Republic of South Africa in leading its proceedings, reaffirming Algeria's solidarity with it in light of the challenges it faces in this context.

Ahmed Attaf considered that the summit's outcomes represent a significant gain for the African continent, which should be leveraged and built upon within the framework of the African Union's permanent membership in the G20. He added that “my country's delegation supports the measures previously approved to share representation duties between the Commission and the rotating presidency, and proposes drawing inspiration from the Oran Process experience to unify the African voice within the G20 as well”.
