President Ramaphosa: "South Africa Does Not Consider Itself Free Under Occupation and Oppression of Sahrawi People"

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa affirmed that his country "does not consider itself free, as long as the Sahrawi people remain under occupation and oppression."

This statement was made in a State of the Nation Address delivered by President Ramaphosa on Thursday before a joint sitting of the South African Parliament.

President Ramaphosa's declaration reiterates South Africa's stance in support of the legitimate rights of the Sahrawi people. It reflects the country's historical commitment to the principles of freedom and resistance against occupation and colonialism.

President Ramaphosa emphasized: "Solidarity and self-determination represent sacred principles upon which South Africa's foreign policy is founded."

President Ramaphosa's address constitutes an annual parliamentary tradition mandated by the country's Constitution. The South African President presents his government program on February 12th of each year.

President Ramaphosa outlined the broad lines of his government's program and public policies, particularly in the field of international relations.

The debate on the program continues for three days, in the presence of members of Parliament, official figures, and the accredited diplomatic corps in the country.
