The Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-enterprises, Noureddine Ouaddah, participated in a high-level session of the Africa Business Forum in Addis-Ababa, where he called for strengthening continental cooperation based on the outcomes of the African Startup Conference editions hosted by Algeria.
According to a ministry statement, Mr. Ouaddah highlighted during his participation yesterday, Monday, in this forum organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the importance of focusing on youth as "the continent's most important asset." He called for "strengthening continental cooperation and adopting the mechanisms that resulted from the previous sessions of the African Startup Conference."
In his speech, the Minister also emphasized the necessity for Africa to transition from exporting raw materials to creating high added value by encouraging entrepreneurship, innovation, and the widespread adoption of modern technologies, the statement added.
He also called for bolstering digital infrastructure, stressing the need for the continent to focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) as well as agricultural technology (Agritech) to ensure food security and achieve sustainable growth.
On this occasion, the Minister reviewed Algeria's experience in encouraging startups and innovation as a fundamental tool in the strategic transformation from a hydrocarbon-based model to a knowledge-based economy, according to the same source.
