The state-owned company Algerie Telecom has won an international award in Geneva, Switzerland, at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum for its project "AI for Digital Inclusion" (AIDI), the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications announced in a statement.
This award, which represents "a new international achievement for Algeria," was presented in the presence of the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Mr. Sid Ali Zerrouki, during the Forum's proceedings (held from July 6 to 10 in Geneva). The certificate of recognition bears the signature of the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Mrs. Doreen Bogdan-Martin, the statement specified.
Algerie Telecom's "AI for Digital Inclusion" (AIDI) project received an ITU certificate of recognition after being selected as a winner in the "Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Infrastructure" category, in recognition of "its contribution to strengthening digital transformation and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)."
This distinction confirms "Algeria's prominent position in the field of digital innovation, as well as its efforts to leverage artificial intelligence technologies to support digital inclusion and the development of technological infrastructure."
