The UN Security Council will hold an open briefing this Monday, followed by closed consultations, on the situation in the Central African Republic.

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for the Central African Republic and Head of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), Valentine Rugwabiza, will provide a briefing via videoconference. This briefing is based on the Secretary-General's latest report on the situation in the country and the mission's activities, which was circulated to Council members on February 13 and covers developments since October 1, 2025.

During her briefing, Rugwabiza will present an overview of the support provided by MINUSCA in organizing the elections, in line with its mandate. This support included logistical and technical assistance, as well as civic education and voter awareness campaigns, alongside securing the elections in coordination with the Central African Armed Forces and the National Police.

The UN official will also highlight the mission's ongoing efforts to strengthen the capacities of national institutions in promoting and protecting human rights. She will also address the mission's financial situation, which has restricted resource allocation and forced the imposition of strict spending controls, while prioritizing core mandates.
