Mexico has deployed 10,000 troops in the west of the country to contain the violence that erupted following the killing of the country's most wanted drug cartel leader, which resulted in dozens of fatalities.
The Mexican government announced the deployment of an additional 2,500 troops to Jalisco, bringing the total number of soldiers deployed since last Sunday to 10,000.
Mexican Security Minister, Omar García Harfuch, stated that at least 25 National Guard members, along with a security officer and a prosecutor, died in the military operation and the subsequent clashes.
The same official added that 30 members of the drug cartel were killed by security forces during these events.
