The High Council for the Arabic Language has announced the opening of nominations for the second edition of the President of the Republic Award for Literature and Arabic Language for the year 2026. The award aims to promote the use of the Arabic language in various fields and specialties, according to a statement from the Council.
The President of the Council, Salah Belaid, called for participation in this second edition in order to "serve and promote the Arabic language and keep it abreast of modern developments." This is to be done by submitting research, creative works, and translations that fall within one of the award’s four categories: the field of Arabic language prosperity, the field of knowledge localization, the field of translation, and the field of literature and creativity. Submissions are open until September 15, 2026.
The list of winners will be announced on World Arabic Language Day on December 18, 2026, according to the same source.
Conditions for candidacy in the award's second session require that the applicant be of Algerian nationality, be at least 20 years old, and that the work be in the Arabic language. Furthermore, the work must be presented using academic methodology, submitted individually, and consist of a single entry in one of the award categories. The work must not have previously won a prize or been used to obtain an academic degree.

The President of the Republic Award for Literature and Arabic Language is granted annually for the best research and works completed in one of the aforementioned fields. It also seeks to improve scientific output in Arabic and identify national competencies in creative fields related to the Arabic language.
