Four Algerian boxers will enter the competition for the second day of the preliminary rounds of the 77th edition of the prestigious Strandja International Tournament (February 23-March 1) this Tuesday in Sofia, Bulgaria.
In the women's category, Mansouri Fatiha will be the first boxer to step into the ring in the 51 kg category, facing Kazakh Urakbayena Zhazira in the Round of 32 (2:00 PM, Algerian time).
For the Round of 16, Benane Djouher (70 kg) will challenge German Muller Leonie, while Rouaz Douaa (54 kg) will face Englishwoman Mackie Lauren, starting at 2:00 PM.
In the men's category, Arbia Mohamed-Oussama (90 kg) will cross gloves with Ukrainian Tolmachov Bogdan in the Round of 16 (6:00 PM).
On Wednesday, it will be the turn of four other boxers to enter the competition for the third day of the Strandja International Tournament.
These are Hamda Melissa (60 kg) and Ichrak Chaib (65 kg), who will face, respectively, Ukrainian Korets Veronika and Turk Kabak Berfin in the Round of 16. Mustapha Abdou (80 kg) will enter the competition against Bulgarian Cholov William, while Magtaa Abderrahim (+90 kg) will challenge Bulgarian Morejon Yordan in the Round of 16.
Led by coaches Khaled Harima and Mohamed-Amine Ouadahi, the Algerian selection is composed of eight boxers (three men and five women).
In the men's category, Algeria is represented by Abdou Mustapha (80 kg), Arbia Mohamed-Oussama (90 kg), and Magtaa Abderrahim (+90 kg). The women will be represented by Mansouri Fatiha (51 kg), Rouaz Douaa (54 kg), Hamda Melissa (60 kg), Ichrak Chaib (65 kg), and Benane Djouher (70 kg).
The preliminary rounds will take place from February 23 to 27, the semi-finals will be held on February 28, while the finals are scheduled for March 1.
The prestigious Strandja International Tournament is considered the oldest boxing tournament in Europe. Every year, it brings together 400 elite boxers from five continents.
