The Minister of Religious Affairs and Wakfs, Youcef Belmehdi, accompanied by the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Sid Ali Zerrouki, supervised this Thursday in Algiers the launch of a special postage stamp dedicated to the Rodossi Mushaf.

In his speech on this occasion, Mr. Belmehdi valued "the issuance of such a postage stamp commemorating the Rodossi Mushaf, in a spiritual atmosphere coinciding with the last ten days of the blessed month of Ramadan," adding that the Rodossi Mushaf "is considered one of the most prominent scientific and religious symbols in Algeria, as it is the first Quran printed in the country, and is known in a number of African countries as the 'Algeria Mushaf' due to the distinctiveness it carries in the Algerian Maghrebi script preserved by scholars and ancestors."

He continued, saying that this "Mushaf received special attention, as it was reprinted by order of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, within the framework of commemorating the sixtieth anniversary of the restoration of national sovereignty, to once again become one of the symbols of independent Algeria and loyalty to its religious reference and national identity."

Mr. Belmehdi also highlighted in the same context that "this Mushaf is being distributed on a wide scale inside and outside Algeria, especially in the Sahel and African countries, in response to the great interest in it and the specificity of its script and scientific heritage."

The Minister confirmed that "the issuance of this postage stamp is a symbolic gesture immortalizing one of Algeria's achievements in the field of its religious and cultural identity, and reflects the role of the Post in documenting luminous milestones in Algeria's history and introducing its civilizational treasures."

In turn, Mr. Zerrouki stated that "the launch of the symbolic postage stamp for the Algeria Mushaf constitutes a new milestone in the path of valuing this religious and cultural monument, especially in these blessed days of the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan."

He clarified that this initiative "comes within the framework of valuing religious and national symbols that reflect the depth of Algerian identity and the richness of its spiritual and civilizational heritage," praising the cooperation with the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Wakfs in embodying this "symbolic project."

He also pointed out that "the postal sector is keen to accompany various sectors in highlighting their achievements and immortalizing prominent milestones in Algeria's history, through postage stamps which serve as a means contributing to consolidating national memory and introducing its civilizational symbols and national heritage."
