The Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, Abdelmalek Tacherift, accompanied by the Rector of Djamaâ El Djazaïr, Mohamed Maâmoune Al-Kacimi Al-Hoceini, presided on Monday at Djamaâ El Djazaïr over the opening of a conference marking the 64th anniversary of Victory Day (March 19, 1962), held under the theme "Eternal Glories and Renewed Victories."

Organized by the National Museum of the Mujahid, in coordination with the Museum of Islamic Civilization of Djamaâ El Djazaïr, the conference took place in the presence of national figures and mujahideen, as well as teachers, researchers, students, intellectuals, and journalists.

On this occasion, Mr. Tacherift emphasized that Algeria's celebration of Victory Day "is not limited to evoking the past, but constitutes a decisive historical moment from which we draw the determination to pursue the momentum of development in order to meet challenges and bring about a comprehensive renaissance."

Victorious Algeria, under the leadership of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, continues to preserve its achievements and "consolidate the foundations of its remarkable victories in various fields, achieving a qualitative leap that has strengthened the authority of the State and placed the citizen's interest above all other considerations," he added.

"The achievements won denote the will of a nation and a homeland protected by solid constitutional institutions, foremost among them the People's National Army, the worthy heir to the National Liberation Army, which remains vigilant against any attempt to undermine our security and constitutes, through its level of readiness and professionalism, the supreme guarantor of the continuity of these victories and the protection of national sovereignty," the minister stated.

The Rector of Djamaâ El Djazaïr, for his part, highlighted the importance of preserving the national memory of the Algerian people by recalling the glories of the Revolution and drawing lessons from it, particularly in the current context where, he said, "we live in a troubled world, marked by the repercussions of a globalization whose rules have dominated for decades, superseding the specificities of societies."

He praised the pride of Algerians in their historical glories, which "must not remain confined to simple events of the past, but must be transformed into permanent educational and cultural material, as an extension of the shuhada (martyrs') oath and a means of instilling a love for the homeland and a sense of service to the general interest."

The conference was punctuated by the screening of a documentary film on this anniversary, before the mujahid Chérif Ouchia delivered a testimony about events he experienced during the Liberation Revolution. Presentations were then given by specialized academics, who highlighted the importance of this historical milestone that enshrined the victories of the Algerian people against colonization, as well as the farsightedness of the Algerian negotiator during the Evian negotiations.
