Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo became Tuesday evening the first player to score in six different editions of the World Cup, thanks to a brace against Uzbekistan in a Group K match held in Houston.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner, who had gone ten matches without a goal in the final phase of a major competition, opened the scoring from close range following a cross from João Cancelo from the right flank. He doubled the lead with a crossed shot just before half-time. "CR7" now has 145 goals in 230 appearances, two records in men's international football.
Present at the World Cup since 2006, the Portuguese striker has scored in each of his six final tournaments. He also broke Eusébio's record, now with ten goals for Portugal in World Cup competitions.
