Algeria concluded its participation in the "Alimentaria 2026" International Food Exhibition, held from March 23 to 26 in Barcelona, Spain, on Thursday with the signing of export contracts and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding the export of Algerian agricultural products, according to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion.

Algeria took part in this economic event through a national pavilion organized by the ministry, bringing together several companies and economic operators active in the agri-food and agricultural products sector, the same source specified.

This participation was crowned by two Algerian companies signing contracts to export local products—namely olive oil, fruits, and vegetables—to the European market. Additionally, an MoU was signed to export Algerian olive oil to the Chinese market, a move poised to open new prospects for national products in Asian markets, the same source added.

"Several professional B2B meetings were held on this occasion at the Algerian pavilion between national operators and their counterparts from different countries, with a view to exploring partnership opportunities and strengthening the presence of Algerian products on international markets," the press release stated.

This participation falls within the framework of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion's efforts aimed at supporting economic operators and strengthening the footprint of Algerian products in foreign markets. The ultimate goal is to contribute to the promotion of non-hydrocarbon exports and the broadening of the national export base, the press release concluded.
