The Personal Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Western Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, began a visit to the Sahrawi refugee camps on Sunday evening as part of his tour of the region, the Sahrawi Press Agency (SPS) reports.
Upon his arrival at the Sahrawi refugee camp, Mr. de Mistura was welcomed by the Polisario Front representative to the UN and coordinator with the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), Sidi Mohamed Omar.
During his visit, the UN envoy will hold discussions with the authorities of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), in addition to meetings with members of the Consultative Council and representatives of Sahrawi organizations responsible for issues related to women, youth, and human rights.
