The Palestinian people, both at home and abroad, are celebrating "Land Day" on Monday. This year, the occasion coincides with an acceleration of Zionist settlement projects and a surge in attacks against Palestinians.

The commemoration of this day occurs within a context marked by the continuation of Zionist policies aimed at seizing control of increasingly more Palestinian land through the establishment of new settlements.

In 2025, Zionist authorities expropriated a total of 5,571 dunams (one dunam equals 1,000 square meters) across various regions of the West Bank, according to official figures.

Concurrently, the occupier continues to encourage acts of violence committed by settlers in the West Bank. During 2025, a total of 23,827 attacks were recorded against Palestinian citizens and their properties. Since the beginning of the current year, 3,837 attacks have been carried out in the West Bank by Zionist settlers and soldiers.

In a statement to APS, the Head of the Refugee Affairs Department, Ahmad Abu Holi, asserted that "Land Day will remain a testament to Palestinian identity and the deep roots of Palestinians in their land, despite the suffering inflicted by Zionist colonial policies aimed at uprooting them."

"The Palestinian people will thwart the Zionist plans," he insisted.

In this context, Abu Holi called on the international community and the UN Security Council to assume their legal, political, and moral responsibilities, and to take immediate, concrete action to compel the Zionist occupier to comply with international law.

For his part, the Director of the Al-Quds International Center, Hassan Khater, stated: "We are experiencing the worst year yet due to expropriation operations and the emergence of the recent phenomenon of pastoral settlement, which is swallowing up vast areas of Palestinian-owned land. Meanwhile, settlers do not hesitate to commit crimes against the population, particularly against the Bedouin community."

The Zionist occupier continues its aggression against Palestinians not only by dispossessing them of their lands but also by committing grave violations against the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which remains closed for the second consecutive month, he recalled.

Hassan Khater urged the international community to adopt a firm stance and not merely settle for condemning Zionist crimes.

"Land Day" commemorates the martyrdom of six young Palestinians during an uprising on March 30, 1976, which was sparked by the dispossession of Palestinian families from their lands in the north and south of Palestine
