Mobile network operator Djezzy organized a panel on digital sovereignty on the sidelines of the first edition of the "Global Africa Tech" forum, held in Algiers from March 28 to 30. The panel focused on the strategic challenges of data localization, enhancing cybersecurity, and the driving role of artificial intelligence (AI).
Titled "Building Digital Sovereignty: Infrastructure in the Age of Agility," the meeting brought together experts and partners from the tech sector who highlighted the imperative of developing an "agile" national technological infrastructure to guarantee data security and support innovation.
"Having data stored locally significantly accelerates product development," it was explained during the panel, citing the example of the social network "1TIK," which is hosted by Djezzy and designed to cater to Algerian cultural specificities.
Emphasis was also placed on the importance of agility and securing exchanges through end-to-end encryption, transforming every digital interaction into a protected asset for the user.
The cybersecurity aspect was addressed by advocating for the adoption of a "security by design" approach to strengthen corporate cyber-resilience, while also reiterating the importance of the regulatory framework regarding the protection of personal data.
