Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, received on Monday in Algiers the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad of the brotherly Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzouk, according to a ministry statement.
The meeting took place prior to their co-chairing of the Algerian-Mauritanian Follow-up Committee, held in preparation for the 20th session of the High Joint Commission scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday.
On this occasion, the two ministers reviewed various dimensions of the brotherly, cooperative, and partnership relations between Algeria and Mauritania. They discussed prospects for continuing joint efforts to develop and elevate these ties, in alignment with the strategic vision established by the two heads of state, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and his brother, President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani, the statement added.
The two parties also engaged in consultation and coordination regarding several current international and regional issues, primarily developments in their immediate neighborhood in the Sahel-Saharan region, as well as the concerning and rapid developments in the Middle East.
