The National Independent Authority for Elections (ANIE) reminded the public, in a statement on Tuesday, of the procedures for endorsing candidate lists presented under the aegis of one or more political parties for the election of members of the National People's Assembly (APN), scheduled for July 2.
Candidate lists presented under the banner of one or more political parties must be expressly endorsed by political parties that obtained more than 4% of the votes cast during the previous legislative elections in the electoral constituency where the candidacy is presented, or by political parties having at least ten (10) elected officials within the concerned electoral constituency, ANIE stated.
"Parties that obtained a rate equal to or less than 4% cannot, under any circumstances, combine their results with those of one or more other parties in order to exceed this threshold to form a coalition list," it specified.
Similarly, "parties having fewer than ten (10) elected officials in the electoral constituency in which the candidacy is presented cannot, under any circumstances, add their seats to those of other parties to reach the threshold of at least ten (10) elected officials in the concerned electoral constituency," the Independent Authority added.
"Parties not fulfilling one of these two conditions, or those participating in elections for the first time, must support their candidate lists with 150 signatures from voters in the concerned constituency for each seat to be filled," ANIE explained.
In this context, the Independent Authority informs parties that participated in the legislative elections of June 12, 2021, that "they may refer to the certified true copies of the minutes of the centralization of voting results, provided to their authorized representative by the presidents of the wilaya electoral commissions of the concerned electoral constituency, or request a copy from the wilaya coordinator of the Authority or its central services."
