The Ministry of Culture and Arts announced yesterday, Tuesday, in a press release the opening of applications for the 4th edition of the "Cadets of Culture" prize, dedicated this year to the memory of the late novelist Abdelhamid Benhedouga (1925-1996).
Creators wishing to participate are invited to submit their applications to the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture and Arts, located at Plateau des Annassers (Kouba, Algiers), or electronically at the address: cadetsculture@m-culture.gov.dz, the statement specified, noting that the deadline for receiving entries has been set for May 20.
Established in 2023, this annual prize aims to encourage young creators and inspire them to persevere in the fields of cultural and artistic creation. It also strives to bring added value to the Algerian cultural scene and support young talents in artistic, fine arts, and literary categories.
The prize covers two categories: the first focuses on "music and performance" (singing, theatrical, television, or cinematic performance), in addition to fine arts (drawing, sculpture, and comic books), while the second category covers "literary works" (narration, children's stories, novels, and poetry).
The competition is open to Algerian children and young creators residing both within the country and abroad, aged between 7 and 16 years.
