Couscous, one of the most iconic dishes of the national culinary heritage, will be in the spotlight once again this spring. After a highly successful first edition, the Algerian Couscous Festival returns for a second edition that promises to be even more ambitious and rich. The event will be held from April 23 to 25, 2026, at the Riad El Feth esplanade in Algiers.

Placed under the patronage of the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries, Yacine El Mahdi Oualid, this new edition aims to gather a wide audience around a gastronomy that carries values of sharing, transmission, and excellence.

"It is with immense pride and a deep attachment to our heritage that we announce the holding of this second edition," stated the event organizer, Idir Saoudi. He emphasized that the festival is intended to be "a national and unifying event," celebrating the richness and diversity of Algerian couscous.

A rich and varied program awaits foodies and the curious. Over three days, visitors will be able to enjoy immersive activities: craft exhibitions, traditional animations, participatory workshops, and conferences dedicated to culinary heritage. Tastings will highlight specialties from various wilayas, illustrating the diversity of recipes and expertise.

The festival will also feature culinary demonstrations led by renowned chefs, as well as gastronomic competitions. The event will conclude with "The Golden Grain" trophy ceremony, rewarding the best creations.

Beyond its gastronomic dimension, this 2026 edition will bring together prestigious guests, including international chefs, prominent figures of Algerian cuisine, and personalities from the diaspora. Artists, creators, journalists, and influencers will also be present to contribute to the promotion of Algerian couscous, both nationally and internationally.

The organizers emphasize the cultural and social significance of this event. Conceived as an intergenerational and intercultural meeting space, the festival aims to strengthen the links between tradition and modernity while promoting Algerian culinary identity.

"Couscous is more than just a dish: it is a symbol of unity, sharing, and collective memory," they noted, inviting the public to take part in this celebration.

Through the slogan "Couscous Unites Us," the festival intends to unite Algerians around a common and living heritage, and to permanently establish this event within the national cultural landscape.
