The National Public Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Oran (MAMO) recently received a donation consisting of 94 sculptures and 11 paintings created by the visual artist Abdelkader Agad, as learned this Saturday from the cultural institution.

The Director of the Museum, Djamel-Eddine Barka, stated to the Algeria Press Service (APS) that this donation, presented by the artist Abdelkader Agad, a native of Mostaganem who currently resides in Germany, serves to enrich the museum's permanent art collections. He noted that the donated pieces are characterized by their exceptional artistic and aesthetic value.

He added that this initiative constitutes the largest donation the museum has received since its inauguration in 2017. He considered that it will contribute to preserving and passing on the artist's creative experience to future generations through the MAMO museum, which has previously received several donations over the past years, including visual artworks by prominent artists.

In the context of honoring the artist Abdelkader Agad, Mr. Barka revealed that the museum is currently working on producing a documentary film about his artistic career, focusing particularly on his work in marble sculpting. Additionally, a permanent wing will be dedicated to displaying this artistic donation within a contemporary sculpture scenography, allowing the public to discover the artist's experience and explore the various stages of his creative journey.

The artist Abdelkader Agad was born in 1938 in the city of Relizane, and is considered one of the prominent names in the Algerian visual arts scene. He has previously exhibited his artworks on numerous occasions both within the country and abroad.
