The sixth edition of the Annaba Mediterranean Film Festival will be held from April 24 to 30, with Egypt as the guest of honor, the festival's organizing committee announced yesterday, Tuesday, in a press release.
The statement added that the choice of Egypt as the guest of honor is part of the festival's efforts to build cinematic communication bridges.
Emphasis will be placed on the rich history of more than 50 years of Algerian-Egyptian co-production, featuring several masterpieces such as "Awdat al-Ibn al Dal" (The Return of the Prodigal Son) by director Youssef Chahine, which served as a model for uniting the talents of both countries.
"In tribute to this spirit of partnership, the poster for this sixth edition is a design gifted to the festival by the young Egyptian artist Hicham Ali, reflecting the depth of artistic relations between Algerian and Egyptian cinema," the committee added.
The choice of the guest of honor for this edition crowns the historical relationship of several decades between Algerian and Egyptian cinema and aims to make it an effective celebration of this shared heritage, the statement emphasized.
