The Sahra Association for Audiovisual Arts in Tindouf announced this Wednesday the launch of the Tindouf International Short Film Festival.
On its official Facebook page, the festival administration gave the green light for submissions to participate in the festival's first edition, calling on filmmakers from Algeria and across the globe to submit their cinematic works.
The festival accepts short narrative films, short documentaries, and animated films. To qualify, submissions must run between 1 and 30 minutes in length, and must have been produced in either 2025 or 2026. The administration noted that participation is completely free, with no entry fees required.
The first chapter of a promising cinematic tale
The members of the administration of the first edition were revealed, who make up the founding work team of the festival with their artistic and cultural expertise from various countries.
These are: artist Driss Benhadid – Algeria, as President of the festival; Ramadan El-Mezdaoui – Libya, as Festival Director.
This is in addition to Hamid Al-Ramahi – Iraq, as General Supervisor of the festival; and Mehdi Mansour – Iran, as Head of the Media Committee.
The statement of the festival committee stated that this team represents a "true starting point" for an event that seeks to consolidate the values of creativity and cultural openness.
The committee pointed to building bridges of cooperation between filmmakers in the Arab world and the world, so that the Tindouf Festival becomes a platform that celebrates the short film.
Reference was also made to the bet on supporting talents and outstanding cinematic productions under the slogan: "Together we write... from Tindouf to the world."
