The Minister of Vocational Training and Education, Ms. Nacima Arhab, has announced Algeria's membership in WorldSkills International, the organization responsible for organizing the Skills Olympics.
During a meeting on Tuesday evening, attended by the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, Yacine El Mahdi Oualid, and the Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups and Micro-enterprises, Noureddine Ouadah, Ms. Arhab explained that Algeria's joining of WorldSkills reflects "Algeria's commitment to promoting vocational training, enhancing a culture of excellence, and opening broader horizons for our youth to integrate into international competitions."
After highlighting the importance of these competitions that bring together young people from various countries within the framework of the Skills Olympics, the Minister noted that preparations are currently underway for participation in "WorldSkills Shanghai 2026," in which Algeria will compete in three specialties.
She also recalled the National Skills Olympics held in Oran last November, which gathered 550 participants from the vocational training and education sector representing the country's various wilayas. They competed in six professional fields across 45 specialties, including construction and public works technologies, information and communication technologies, services, creative arts, and fashion.
