The President of the Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, affirmed this Monday afternoon Algeria's full readiness to continue working with the State of the Vatican to promote the spirit of understanding, spread dialogue, and enhance coexistence and cooperation.
In a speech delivered at the Cultural Center of Djamaâ El-Djazaïr on the occasion of the official visit of Pope Leo XIV to Algeria, the President of the Republic addressed His Holiness, stating: “I reiterate to Your Holiness Algeria's full readiness to continue working with the State of the Vatican to promote the spirit of understanding instead of division, to spread the spirit of dialogue instead of confrontation, and to enhance the spirit of coexistence and cooperation instead of hostility and discord”.
The President of the Republic pointed out that “Algeria is fully aware of the meaning and significance of these authentic values, which are deeply rooted in its identity. It is fully committed to supporting them and working to promote them within its various regional spheres of belonging and beyond”.
He further emphasized that “Algeria has always been a space for harmony, interaction, and consensus, providing a safe haven for the oppressed, the persecuted, and the deprived. It has consistently defended human dignity and stood firmly by just causes across the globe—notably in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and even in Europe”.
He continued by saying: “These universal human values, which we share with Your Holiness—faith in them, commitment to their essence, and striving for their realization at both regional and international levels—are the values of social justice, peace, freedom, dialogue, and coexistence”.
