Pope Leo XIV visited on Tuesday the archaeological site of Hippo in the city of Annaba, which is home to the historic Basilica of Peace.
The Pope was accompanied by the Minister of Culture and Arts, Ms. Malika Bendouda, where he received explanations regarding this archaeological site.
The guest of Algeria also laid a wreath and planted an olive branch originating from Saint Augustine's tree as a symbol of world peace.
