The Minister of Culture and Arts, Malika Bendouda, presided this Monday over the installation ceremony of the jury for the 20th edition of the President of the Republic's "Ali Maâchi" Prize for Young Creators for the year 2026, a ministry statement indicated.
The jury will begin its work by evaluating 564 creative works that meet the participation requirements, received by the ministry via both the digital platform and paper dossiers, the statement specified.
This jury brings together prominent figures from various creative disciplines, including Djazia Cherrih, Fatima Ouazene, Abdelouahab Benmansour, Ahmed Taibaoui, Lakhder Fellous, Abderrahmane Bouzerba, Ibrahim Chergui, Makhlouf Boukrouh, Kaddour Nourredine, Abbas Righi, Khalil Baba Ahmed, and Yacine Boughazi, under the chairmanship of Slimane Djouadi.
During the installation ceremony, the minister addressed a series of recommendations to the jury members, insisting on transparency, integrity, strict neutrality, and the guarantee of equal opportunities for all young creators, both in Algeria and abroad.
She also emphasized that the quality and creative value of the work must constitute "the sole selection criterion," calling on the jury to take into account the Algerian cultural specificity of the competing works, in accordance with the ministry's policy of encouraging young talents.
The winners will be honored during a ceremony organized on the occasion of National Artist Day, on June 8.
