The President of the Republic of Chad, Mr. Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, concluded this Friday his three-day official visit to Algeria.

The Chadian President, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, was seen off at Houari Boumediene International Airport by the President of the Council of the Nation, Mr. Azouz Nasri.

This visit culminated in the signing of nearly 30 agreements and memorandums of understanding covering various sectors, such as public works, communication, youth, animal health, pharmaceutical industry, air transport services, higher education and scientific research, as well as industry and trade.

A framework cooperation agreement for the construction of a refinery was signed, along with an agreement on the mutual visa exemption for holders of diplomatic and service passports, as well as an agreement between the two governments on establishing political and diplomatic consultations.

On the occasion of this official visit, the President of the Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, extended an official reception to his Chadian counterpart at the Presidency of the Republic, followed by one-on-one talks and expanded discussions involving the delegations of both countries.

In a joint statement with his Chadian counterpart, the President of the Republic of Algeria affirmed that "what has been achieved today between Algeria and Chad constitutes a significant step toward building an integrated strategic partnership," highlighting "Algeria's commitment to standing by the Republic of Chad, with a keenness to build a successful African model for African-African cooperation."

The President of the Republic of Algeria added on this occasion that the Chadian President's visit to Algeria "expresses our shared political will to continue the path we have jointly mapped out during His Excellency's visit to Algeria last September," noting that this visit aims to "provide a new impetus for cooperation in various fields, particularly in the economic sector, which includes energy, mining, infrastructure, transport, industry, pharmaceutical industry, as well as trade exchange."

The President of Algeria also affirmed that he discussed "regional and African issues" with Algeria's guest, noting that in this regard, "it was agreed to continue consultation and coordination in defense of our continent's interests and in service of the causes of peace, stability, and development in Africa."

For his part, the President of the Republic of Chad considered that his visit to Algeria reflects "a clear political will between the two countries to transition from a traditional friendship to a strategic partnership," highlighting that Algeria and Chad "are not linked by mere coincidence, but rather share a historical depth resulting from a political vision formulated by the founding fathers."
