The Prime Minister, Mr. Sifi Ghrieb, chaired a government meeting today, Tuesday, dedicated to the continued examination of a draft decree concerning the public works sector. Additionally, the meeting featured presentations related to the sectors of digitalization, health, and social security, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's office, the full text of which follows:

“The Prime Minister, Mr. Sifi Ghrieb, chaired a government meeting this Tuesday, May 5, 2026, dedicated to examining the following points:

In the beginning, the Government continued its examination of the draft Executive Decree specifying the conditions and procedures for the approval of materials used in the construction, maintenance, and operation of public works and infrastructure. It is worth noting that this draft text defines the technical standards for materials utilized in public works projects and establishes a reference framework aimed at ensuring the quality and safety of infrastructure.

On another front, the Government listened to a presentation regarding the project for the National Addressing Reference Framework and its socio-economic impacts leading up to 2030. This project lies at the heart of the directives of the President of the Republic and the State's efforts aimed at modernizing public service and consolidating digital transformation; it also represents a strategic tool for reorganizing urban spaces, improving the quality of public services, and transitioning toward smart governance based on data.

Furthermore, as part of monitoring the overall health situation, the Government listened to a presentation regarding the epidemiological status of communicable diseases subject to mandatory reporting at both the national and international levels, as well as the measures taken to strengthen prevention and response mechanisms against these diseases.

On this occasion, it was noted that infectious diseases continue to pose a significant challenge to the national health system, which necessitates strengthening early detection capabilities and digitalizing information reporting systems, as well as increasing inter-sectoral coordination and enhancing the capacity to confront epidemic risks.

In conclusion, the Government listened to a report on the financing of the national social security system, which specifically addressed the financial status of the social security and retirement funds in light of demographic changes and the growth rate of expenditures.

In this regard, it was emphasized that a comprehensive action plan must be developed to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of the social protection system, as well as its impact on social inclusion."
