The Minister of the Interior, Local Communities, and Transport, Mr. Saïd Sayoud, received yesterday, Tuesday, the European Commissioner for the Mediterranean, Ms. Dubravka Suica, according to a statement from the ministry.
During this meeting, held at the ministry's headquarters in the presence of the European Union (EU) Ambassador to Algeria and senior ministry officials, both parties examined "ways and means to strengthen cooperation and coordination across several areas of common interest," the statement noted.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to address issues of mutual concern for Mediterranean countries, notably irregular migration and cooperation in combating natural disasters. Emphasis was placed on the importance of adopting an approach based on consultation and coordination to tackle these challenges.
Furthermore, both sides emphasized "their determination to continue promoting dialogue and consolidating cooperation mechanisms, in the best interest of both parties and to enhance partnership and coordination," the source concluded.
