The President of the Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, was decorated in Ankara on Thursday evening by the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, with the Order of the State medal. This is the highest civil decoration in Türkiye, awarded to heads of state and royal families, in order to further strengthen bilateral relations with Türkiye.
For his part, the President of the Republic ofAlgeria, Chancellor of the National Order of Merit, decorated his Turkish counterpart with the National Order of Merit of the Athir rank, in recognition of his efforts in strengthening and consolidating relations and partnership with Algeria across various fields.
These ceremonies took place during a commemorative and honorary event held as part of the official visit of the President of the Republic to Türkiye, accompanied by a high-level ministerial delegation.
In a speech delivered on the occasion, the President of the Republic expressed his deep gratitude to his Turkish counterpart, emphasizing: "As we walk together hand in hand on the path of strengthening cooperation between our two countries, I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to you for granting me this honor." He added that his meeting with his Turkish counterpart aims to "develop a deep and comprehensive strategic partnership with this great and ancient country."
The President of the Republic explained that by holding the first meeting of the Algerian-Turkish High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, the two countries have "laid the foundations of this partnership." He emphasized that Algeria and Türkiye are "moving towards transforming their relations into a model of intensive and clear cooperation in all fields, which is a sincere expression of our shared will."
The President of the Republic considered that being awarded the Order of the State medal is, in fact, "an embodiment of a model partnership enjoying upward dynamics and grand objectives." Furthermore, he stated that it "represents a clear indication of our two countries' decision to become contributing actors in security and peace efforts, especially in light of what the Middle East and Gulf regions are witnessing today."
The President of the Republic indicated that "these ceremonies, with the symbolism and deep meanings they hold, will be a driving force for the expansion and deepening of our strategic partnership," assuring his Turkish counterpart that being awarded the National Order of Merit at its highest level "represents a great honor." He continued by saying: "You have exerted and continue to exert great efforts to ensure that the relations between our two fraternal countries reach the furthest horizons, serving the interests of both peoples."
For his part, the President of the Republic of Türkiye stated in a speech on the same occasion: "I experience the happiness of awarding you the highest medal in the Republic of Türkiye, which is the Order of the State, in appreciation of your valuable contributions to our relations and for the common interest of our two countries and peoples." He added: "We witness with satisfaction the bonds of brotherhood and friendship, spanning nearly five centuries between Türkiye and Algeria, growing stronger day by day."
He emphasized that "thanks to the sincere support of my dear brother, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, bilateral relations have reached their highest levels in the history of the Republic." He added: "We follow with great interest the vision of my dear brother, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for the New Algeria, and we see that Algeria, under his wise leadership, shines in its region like a star, which gives us great satisfaction."
President Erdoğan addressed the President of the Republic of Algeria, saying: "With your exceptional leadership, which paved the way for our relations to reach this excellent level today, you have demonstrated a sincere and firm will to further strengthen the bonds of friendship and brotherhood between us. I am certain that you will view and wear this medal as a powerful symbol of the deep-rooted brotherhood between our two countries. I also express to you my great happiness at being decorated with this distinguished order."
