The activities of the Aicha Haddad National Fine Arts Symposium kicked off this Saturday in the wilaya of Bordj Bou Arreridj, with the participation of 42 artists from several wilayas of the country, fine arts schools, and museums.
In this regard, Mr. Aboubakr Messili, Director of the Aicha Haddad Cultural Complex in the capital of the wilaya, which is hosting the event until May 11, explained that this event—organized by the local Directorate of Culture and Arts under the patronage of the supervisory ministry and the supervision of local authorities—aims to "value national heritage and introduce the local cultural legacy, as well as provide a space to exchange expertise and experiences among Algerian artists and creators."
The program of this event, organized as part of the celebration of Heritage Month (April 18 - May 18) and the commemoration of the May 8, 1945 massacres, commenced with a revolutionary theatrical play titled "The Leader." It was produced by the cultural complex in cooperation with the Numidia Cultural Association, alongside the launch of art workshops.
The program will also feature the creation of a mural to immortalize the memory of the May 8, 1945 massacres, in addition to organizing tourist excursions for the participants to the historical and archaeological landmark Bordj El Mokrani and the ancient El Kelaa area in the municipality of Tassameurt. These outings aim to showcase the local customs, traditions, and cultural heritage that the wilaya abounds in.
For his part, the Director of the Regional School of Fine Arts in Tipaza, Salim Rekah, who is also a visual artist, praised the involvement of artistic training institutions in this event. He emphasized that the school's pavilion included diverse artworks encompassing oil painting, miniatures, ornamentation, sculpture, and interior design.
On the other hand, the pavilion of the Nasreddine Dinet National Public Museum in Bou Saada marked a distinguished presence by presenting the artist's works using modern techniques based on artificial intelligence, transforming the paintings into interactive videos. This initiative aims to digitize the Algerian artistic heritage and present it to new generations using contemporary methods.
