Minister of Religious Affairs: All Conditions Provided to Ensure a Successful Hajj Season for Algerian Pilgrims

The Minister of Religious Affairs and Wakfs, Mr. Youcef Belmehdi, held a videoconference meeting, attended by the Director of the Algerian Pilgrims Affairs Office and the heads of delegations from Mecca, as part of the follow-up on the progress of the Hajj season.

During this meeting, comprehensive reports on various organizational and field aspects were presented. It was noted that nearly 17,000 pilgrims had been received through the entry points of Jeddah and Medina, with accommodation and grouping processes fully completed. Approximately 90 percent of the pilgrims were directed to perform the Umrah rituals under tightly controlled and well-organized conditions.

The heads of the committees also delivered detailed presentations on their activities. The Holy Sites (Mashaer) Committee recorded significant progress in preparation and execution operations within the holy sites, confirming that the various locations, whether in Arafat or Mina, are in their final stages of readiness. They are expected to be handed over on the 27th of Dhu al-Qidah, corresponding to April 13, 2026.

Inspections confirmed that all organizational and logistical conditions are in place, ensuring that pilgrims are received in the best possible conditions and provided with the necessary services while performing the rituals.

In his intervention, the Minister explained that the season is still in its early stages, stressing the need to continue working at the same pace and with the same diligence. He emphasized the importance of tight coordination among all members of the Algerian mission in Mecca, Medina, and Jeddah, and the necessity of immediate intervention in the event of any issue or emergency to ensure swift and effective care for the pilgrims.

The Minister also praised the efforts made by the various members of the mission, calling for continuous fieldwork and a constant presence to ensure the success of the season and to serve the Algerian pilgrims to the fullest.
