The draw for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, scheduled to be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, will take place next Tuesday at the Egyptian Football Association headquarters in Cairo, starting at 15:00 Algerian time, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced today, Saturday.
A total of 48 national teams, including the three host nations, will participate in these qualifiers. The draw will determine the distribution of teams into different groups and their pathways to qualification for the finals, which will feature 24 teams.
The qualifiers will be played across three periods within the FIFA international match calendar dates, ahead of the finals scheduled from June 19 to July 17, 2027, according to the following schedule:
- Rounds 1 and 2: September 21 to October 6, 2026.
- Rounds 3 and 4: November 9 to 17, 2026.
- Rounds 5 and 6: March 22 to 30, 2027.
The 48 national teams will be divided into 12 groups of four teams each, with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the finals.
As for the groups that include one of the host countries, an additional qualification ticket will be awarded to another team to advance to the final stage of the continental competition.
