The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Nigeriens Abroad, Bakary Yaou Sangaré, praised on Tuesday in Algiers the accelerated pace of the implementation of bilateral agreements signed during the Algerian-Nigerien High Joint Commission held in Niamey last March.

In a press statement following the reception by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, of the Nigerien delegation—which notably includes the Minister of State, Minister of the Interior, Public Security, and Territorial Administration of the sister Republic of Niger, General Mohamed Toumba, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Nigeriens Abroad, Bakary Yaou Sangaré—the latter explained that the visit of the "high-level" Nigerien delegation falls within the framework of following up on the outcomes of the Algerian-Nigerien High Joint Commission.

He recalled the visit made by the President of the Republic of Niger, Head of State, General Abdourahamane Tiani, to Algeria last February, which was followed by the meeting of the High Joint Commission that culminated in the signing of around twenty agreements.

In this regard, he highlighted the importance of having a "permanent and regular follow-up mechanism to ensure the effective implementation of the outcomes of this High Joint Commission." He noted that the two countries have established a follow-up mechanism based on which "visits are exchanged regularly from both sides to evaluate the level of implementation."

The Nigerien Foreign Minister also expressed his country's great satisfaction with the "speed and immediacy with which everything agreed upon is being implemented." He revealed that "almost all of these agreements have entered into force, and some are proceeding at an accelerated pace, with the implementation rate far exceeding expectations."

In this context, he pointed out that members of both countries' delegations held bilateral working sessions on the sidelines of the reception "to accurately assess the status of the various projects included in the bilateral cooperation plan."

He added that the delegation came to Algeria to "inform the President of the Republic of the progress made and receive his directives regarding new orientations and paths," as well as to convey to the President "the desire expressed by the President of the Republic of Niger to explore new prospects and areas of cooperation," while ensuring the "establishment of a periodic and continuous follow-up mechanism."

Mr. Bakary Yaou Sangaré concluded by affirming that the delegation "presented its report to the President of the Republic, who kindly offered his advice and directives, and also requested that his sincere thanks and appreciation be conveyed to his brother, General Abdourahamane Tiani."
