The Prime Minister, Mr. Sifi Ghrieb, chaired a Government meeting on Wednesday dedicated to examining a draft executive decree setting the safety rules for ionizing radiation sources and radiation protection, along with a communication relating to the operational plan dedicated to the implementation of Algeria's social mapping, according to a press release from the Prime Minister's Office, the full text of which is as follows:
"The Prime Minister, Mr. Sifi Ghrieb, chaired, this Wednesday, May 20, 2026, a Government meeting dedicated to the examination of the following points:
The Government examined a draft executive decree setting the safety rules for ionizing radiation sources and radiation protection.
The purpose of this draft text is to strengthen the national radiation protection system by regulating occupational, medical, and public exposure, as well as the management of radioactive sources and associated equipment.
Secondly, the Government also examined a communication relating to the operational plan dedicated to the implementation of Algeria's social mapping, which relies on an organized approach evaluated by indicators and indices covering the human dimension and the geographical realities of the territories.
In this context, several fields of analysis were selected, focusing in particular on the demographic dimension, education, health and health coverage, living conditions, the availability of basic services, access to mobility, territorial connectivity, as well as environmental and climate vulnerabilities.
The ultimate goal expected from this mapping is to better assess the socioeconomic needs of the regions, improve the targeting and prioritization of public policies, and ensure a more equitable distribution of available resources."
