The Embassy of Algeria in France has condemned in the "strongest terms" the "heinous" attack that took place on Wednesday against the Algerian pavilion located within the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), as part of Africa Week.

In a statement, the diplomatic mission said: "The Embassy of Algeria in France condemns in the strongest terms the heinous attack that targeted, on May 20, 2026, the Algerian pavilion established within the UNESCO headquarters as part of the 2026 edition of Africa Week."

The same source added that the Embassy expressed its "unwavering" support for the Algerian exhibitors "committed to protecting and promoting the rich and ancient national heritage, in the spirit of the values of exchange, dialogue, and tolerance advocated by UNESCO."

The statement concluded by emphasizing that "in light of the increasing attacks, harassment, and acts of violence against Algerian exhibitors during events organized in France, the Embassy of Algeria will not hesitate to take all necessary measures to protect its citizens and ensure that the perpetrators and instigators of these unjustified and unacceptable acts do not go unpunished."
