On the sidelines of the 17th session of the Implementation Review Group of the United Nations Convention against Corruption held in Vienna, the Algerian delegation, led by Salima Mousserati, President of the Supreme Authority, held a working session today, Friday, with the Qatari delegation, led by Mr. Hamad bin Nasser Al-Misnad, President of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority of the State of Qatar and President of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption currently taking place in Austria.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mousserati congratulated her Qatari counterpart on the successful management and chairing of this session's proceedings, praising the efforts made to enhance Arab and international cooperation in the field of preventing and combating corruption.
Furthermore, Salima Mousserati called for strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two sides by exchanging best practices and expertise in the fields of transparency and corruption prevention, particularly regarding whistleblower protection systems and the management of conflicts of interest, as well as cooperating on training and mentoring programs tailored for students and the academic community.
During the meeting, the President of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority of the State of Qatar welcomed the initiative aimed at concluding a cooperation agreement between the two parties in the field of preventing and combating corruption, which would serve as a foundation for outlining future cooperation and partnership prospects. He highlighted, at the same time, the strong relations connecting the Algerian Republic with the State of Qatar.
The talks also addressed the review and evaluation phase of the State of Algeria within the framework of the Arab Convention Against Corruption, particularly regarding the evaluation process overseen by both the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Palestine.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed on the importance of organizing joint workshops and training courses to keep pace with the best international practices and exchange expertise. Both delegations expressed their readiness to cooperate and share experiences, particularly in the areas of public sector codes of conduct, the right of access to information, and the uses of artificial intelligence in combating corruption, especially with the State of Qatar nearing the organization of the Arab Forum this coming September.
