On behalf of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, Mr. Abdelmalek Tachrift, signed the condolence book this Wednesday at the headquarters of the Embassy of the Republic of Guinea in Algiers, following the passing of Mrs. Andrée Touré, widow of the late President Ahmed Sékou Touré.
The condolence message stated: "On behalf of the President of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and on behalf of the Algerian government, we extend our most sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the family of the deceased, Hadja Andrée Touré, and to the authorities and people of the brotherly Republic of Guinea during this painful time."
The text added: "The passing of Hadja Andrée Touré brings to mind a generation of men and women who accompanied the major milestones of the struggle for freedom, dignity, and the achievement of a renaissance on the African continent." It noted that the name of the deceased "will remain associated with that of the late President Ahmed Sékou Touré, one of the most prominent African leaders who dedicated their lives to the liberation of Africa and safeguarding the dignity of its peoples, working tirelessly to consolidate the values of solidarity and African unity."
The message further stated: "The historical positions of President Ahmed Sékou Touré and his fraternal relations with Algeria, during the years of the struggle for independence and beyond, will remain a source of pride and a common reference in the memory of our two countries."
The condolence message concluded by affirming that "on this painful occasion, as Algeria stands in solidarity with brotherly Guinea, it recalls with loyalty and sincerity the shared revolutionary legacy that united the leaders and peoples of the two countries, and reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the bonds of friendship and brotherhood that have long united Algeria and Guinea."
